The Abstract Mind Mural  Art Exploring Individuals Living With Mental Illness

Shame - Vergüenza, 2006

Shame - Vergüenza, 2006

Media: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 25 x 25 inches
Provenance: The Artist

My painting expresses the inner turmoil felt by
those suffering from mental illness that still
carries a substantial stigma or mark of shame
in our society. The shame, in conjunction with
the mental disturbances, blocks the individual
from expressing their true and authentic self,
suppressing and hiding their perceived dark
side, while only allowing the world to see
what is socially acceptable.
